1. Overview

This website is operated by the iGEM UAlberta team ("glEYEco," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our website at gleyeco.com and purchasing products through our store, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of these terms, you should not access or use this website.

2. Products and Pricing

All products listed on this site are merchandise sold to support the glEYEco research project by iGEM UAlberta. Prices are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD) unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to modify prices at any time without prior notice. Price changes will not affect orders that have already been confirmed.

Product images are for illustrative purposes. While we make every effort to display colours and details accurately, we cannot guarantee that your device's display will accurately reflect the physical product.

3. Orders and Payment

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase. We reserve the right to accept or decline any order. Payment is processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card information on our servers. By submitting an order, you represent that the payment information you provide is accurate and that you are authorized to use the payment method.

An order confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided at checkout. This confirmation constitutes our acceptance of your order.

4. Shipping and Delivery

We currently ship within Canada. Estimated delivery times are provided at checkout and are not guaranteed. We are not liable for delays caused by shipping carriers, customs, weather, or other circumstances beyond our control. Risk of loss and title for items pass to you upon delivery to the carrier.

5. Returns and Refunds

Due to the nature of our products and the fact that all proceeds fund research, all sales are final. We do not accept returns or issue refunds except in cases where:

  • The item received is materially defective or damaged during shipping.
  • The wrong item was sent.

If you believe you qualify for a refund, contact us at uofaigem@ualberta.ca within 14 days of delivery with your order number and a description of the issue. We will review each request on a case-by-case basis.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, images, and software — is the property of iGEM UAlberta and is protected by Canadian and international copyright laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content without our prior written consent.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, glEYEco and iGEM UAlberta shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of this website or purchase of products. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific product giving rise to the claim.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Products are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. This website is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of this website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta, Canada.

10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the website after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
